Madiba secondary school maintenance proposal this year
19 Jul 2022
Madiba Senior Secondary School in Mahalapye has not had maintenance for a long time, says Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Ms Nnaniki Makwinja.
Answering a question in Parliament, Ms Makwinja explained that lack of maintenance affected both buildings as well as electrical and mechanical installations.
She said her ministry last carried out maintenance, which covered all works in all facilities at the school in the 2013/14 financial year, and that it had increased enrolment rate at the school.
“Madiba Senior Secondary School will be proposed for maintenance work in the next proposed batch coming this year with 10 senior secondary schools.
We are intending to expand those schools with the limited resources using alternative maintenance procedure to ensure that we achieve more with less,” said the assistant minister.
Mahalapye West MP, Mr David Tshere had asked if the ministry was aware that Madiba Senior Secondary School had not had cyclic maintenance, especially electrical, plumbing and water supply, sewage lines and buildings in a long time.
Mr Tshere also wanted to know when the ministry would plan to do the cyclic maintenance. BOPA
