Mokungwane Primary School celebrates academic excellence

Mokungwane Primary School in the Central District has for the past three years consistently performed well in the Primary School Leaving Exams (PSLE), making it one of the top achievers in the region.
The school recently celebrated its achievement, where best performers were awarded prizes.
Speaking at the ceremony themed; Strengthening Stakeholder Engagement for Academic Excellence in Building the 21st Century Learner, school head, Ms Grace Gosego said the school, which had an enrollment of 71, had since 2019 been scoring 100 per cent ABC in the PSLE.
Ms Gosego attributed the good performance to strengthened link between teachers and the community through intensified communication and Parents Teachers Association (PTA)meetings.
She also highlighted that irrespective of the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers showed resilience, hence the school still performed well in the 2021 PSLE.
Ms Gosego noted that the school endeavoured to provide the best possible education for each child who attended Mokungwane Primary School, ensuring they developed holistically to enable them to adapt to sustainable development.
However, the school head said Mokungwane Primary School was faced with challenges such as lack of internet connectivity.
She also decried shortage of classrooms.
For her part, Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA)’s broadband services director, Ms Maitseo Ratladi said government encouraged public private partnerships, hence the need to adopt Mokungwane Primary School through the Adopt-A-School initiative.
She also highlighted that it was encouraging to note that stakeholders such as parents and Mokungwane PTA played an important role in contributing to conducive environment for teaching and learning.
“It must be noted that our education system expects nothing but excellent academic performance, hence several conditions and facilities have been provided to facilitate this dream by stakeholders such as parents, society, school and the government,” she said.
Further, Ms Ratladi noted that Mokungwane school valued success of every learner, hence working towards one of the country’s Reset Agenda priorities of Mind-Set Change, which she said could make a positive impact on all citizens.
For his part, Lerala/Maunatlala MP, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele applauded Mokungwane Primary School for the consistent academic excellence.
He also encouraged teachers, parents and the community to continue working together to retain the performance going forward. Ends
