Boutique to dress Kanye community

05 Jul 2022

Lebogang Mpofu and Obakeng Sengwaketsi are a true testimony to the saying that; alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.

The Kanye duo jointly launched a unisex fashion boutique PJ Clothing, The Suit Paradise.

Mpofu a producer, director of The Reel Medial and fashion developer known for nurturing brands, has teamed with Gospel sensation Sengwaketsi to offer ready to wear corporate suits with the view to closing the ailing supply gap that has been existing in Kanye.

Officiating at the event, Member of Parliament for Kanye South, Dr Lemogang Kwape commended the duo for their indelible mark and helping to transform Kanye into a vibrant commercial village for the benefit of its residents.

“This is a fantastic example of the patriotic mentality of people that we aspire to possess in our village.

It is a true example of what partnerships can do in enhancing the public realm of the village,” he said.

Dr Kwape, therefore, thanked the co-owners for their tireless efforts in forging vital links of promoting doing business in their home village with the view of creating employment for their fellow people.

“I am adamant that this business will encourage more bright minds to take the plunge into entrepreneurship and in turn help in creating employment for other youths,” he said.

In that regard, he acknowledged them for having persevered during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, where most businesses had had to close down.

“This should serve as a powerful source of inspiration for youth to have thought of operating their business in a place of their origin,” he said.

He added that it was a call to other youth entrepreneurs to consider networking, forging more partnerships and investing more in an effort to run businesses in their home villages.

Dr Kwape encouraged the duo to have faith in fulfilling the company’s vision and not to be weary, adding that with time everything would fall into place, leading to the success of the business.

“We want this brand to grow nationally and internationally, and appreciate you as the ambassadors of this nation,” he said.

Co- founder, Sengwaketsi said his love and passion for fashion sparked the idea to partner with Mpofu and establish a brand that sought to solve a clothing issue that the fashion industry often encountered.

“We both share the ambition of establishing a brand that creates elevated work wear and accessories that is intended for the working class to our fellow tribesmen, considering the distance they have to travel to access such services in Gaborone,” he said.

He said PJ clothing’s first branch was in Gaborone.

“It is a fashion platform that is devoted to open sourcing and unlocking more opportunities for creators and fashion businesses as we buy and sell ready-made clothing,” he said.

Further, he said the business also offered tailoring, mending and personal styling services for weddings and other functions.

“Our aim is to supply garment that customers can easily layer or mix and match.

We aspire to be a successful business, with our vision directed towards opening more branches around the country and even internationally,” he said. ENDS
