Vice president, Mr Slumber Tsogwane has implored fellow party members to recruit more members ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Addressing the Mahalapye BDP regional congress on Sunday, Mr Tsogwane said one of the core duties of regions was to recruit more members to the party.

“As regions, it is your duty to recruit people to join the Botswana Democratic Party. We are going for general elections in 2024 so, you should recruit more members to increase the number of votes in 2024,” he said.

Mr Tsogwane encouraged the regional leadership to preach BDP achievenments in in various forums.

He said as leaders, there was need for intensified communication strategies on party intentions, mandate and programmes among others.

The Vice President highlighted that the BDP had made promises to Batswana, therefore it was the duty of the BDP leadership to inform them of the party’s achievements and challenges as well as mapping way forward.

He cited constitutional review as one of the promises made by the ruling party in 2019, and that indeed the promise was delivered.   Mr Tsogwane also encouraged members to air their grievances at regional level and come up with resolutions that would see the betterment of the Botswana Democratic Party going forward.

The Vice President said that party regions, branches and wards were different structures or setups, hence people should respect  and desist from interferring on matters outside their structures. This , he said was wrong and should be avoided at all costs.

He said as BDP leadership, it was their duty to teach upcoming members the proper way of doing things. ENDS
