Apart from donating food hampers and toiletries to the underprivileged members of the society, Debonairs, Galo Mall in Francistown also supports sport development in Botswana.
Speaking at the handing over of toiletries to 10 female pupils at Mater Spei College recently, former student at the mission school, Ms Lame Ntwaetsile said Debonairs had established a netball team comprising 10 young women.
“We have realised that there are few netball teams in Francistown and saw a need to add spark in the sports industry,” stated Ms Ntwaetsile who appealed to members of the public to support the newly formed team.
She said the donation that included washing powder and sanitary pads among items, would ensure that learners carried on with their studies undisturbed.
She said Debonairs was committed to give back to the community and encouraged other companies to support underprivileged members of society.
“Government alone cannot assist everyone and it is upon ourselves to make sure that we assist with the little resources we have at our disposal,” said Ms Ntwaetsile.
She advised pupils to focus on their education despite the challenges they faced.
“I urge you to be focused in your studies and work very hard to achieve your goals and dreams,” she said.
Mater Spei School head, Mr Babuluki Bajiti thanked Debonairs Galo Mall for the generosity.
He said Batswana were known for supporting each other during trying times and was not surprising that Debonairs had extended a helping hand to the community.
Mr Bajiti said such donations encouraged learners to work hard. Ends ENDS
