Botswana Mozambique true partners

27 Jun 2022

Botswana will continue to support Mozambique’s struggle for peace and its push to give to and benefit from regional integration.

Vice President Dr Slumber Tsogwane said this upon arrival from Mozambique, where he attended the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (FRELIMO) as well as the former Portuguese colony’s 47 years of self-rule, on behalf of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, and Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

“Botswana commended Mozambique for their remarkable and noteworthy efforts towards peace and unity,” he said, adding Mozambique had shown determination to have its people live in peace as shown in its handling of acts of terrorism and religious fanaticism in the Carbo Del Gado Province, and against which SADC, in the true spirit of camaraderie deployed a peace-keeping force to the region.

Mr Tsogwane said the celebrations were not only for the people of Mozambique, but also for all the people from around the world who appreciated the courage and determination of those who fought for freedom in that country.

He said Botswana and Mozambique had remained close and sincere partners in development for many years, and the latter could always count on the former’s support as it strove for peace and improvement of its people’s lives. BOPA
