Councillors Oliphant Mfa and Bethuel Botumile will be Sowa Town mayor and deputy, respectively for the remaining two and half years before the 2024 general elections. 

Sowa Town councillors unanimously re-elected the two during a special council session Friday. 

Accepting the assignment, Councillor Mfa promised to do more to ensure the council delivered on its mandate. He said voters expected a lot from them assessed their performance against developments that they brought. 

Mayor Mfa called upon fellow councillors to work hard to turn Sowa into an industrial town, especially as it already had an operational mine. 

“We need to leave a legacy for the people of this area,” he said. 

He added the town lacked behind in developments, and as the leadership they should be seen to be working towards attracting investors to the mining town. 

This, he said would help to create opportunities for residents and other citizens, thereby improving the town’s economy and livelihoods of the surrounding communities.ENDS
