DCEC boss applauds councillors for fighting crime

The Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) has appreciated contribution from Palapye Administrative Authority (PAA) councillors to fighting corruption and economic crime.
Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime head in Palapye, Mr Teekay Kaelo said corruption was among national concerns that the directorate could not win alone.
Mr Kaelo was speaking at a meet and greet session Tuesday in Palapye, where he mentioned that no district in the country was immune to damages of corruption, hence it was important to introspect and see what needed to be done to maintain a zero tolerance stance.
He said that the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime activities not only focused on investigating corruption, but engaged in education and prevention campaigns as well.
Mr Kaelo stated that in its strategic vision, the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime sought to rally the nation towards a corruption free society and that within the directorate, was a division tasked with formulating anti-corruption measures for government departments and parastatals.
He said the directorate continued to undertake preventative measures through engaging the public and private institutions, to ensure that corruption prevention was mainstreamed in those institutions.
Palapye Administrative Authority chairperson, Ms Khumoyame Lekoko welcomed collaboration with Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime to fight corruption as it would be for the betterment of the bub-region.
Ms Lekoko said the purpose of his visit was to appreciate the office and learn more about Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime activities.
She challenged Palapye Administrative Authority councillors to resist corruption temptations disguised as connections, saying they should live clean lives.
For their part, the councillors advocated for the organisation to do more in educating citizens about their work. BOPA
