Chobe council elects new chairperson

Chobe District councillors have elected Mr Chimney Mulelwane of Chobe Enclave East and Mr Tengenyane Tuelo of Pandamatenga as chairperson and deputy respectively. 

The duo was unopposed.

In his acceptance speech during a full council meeting on Friday, Councillor Mulelwane thanked his colleagues for electing him to lead them for the next two and a half years. 

He noted that as a first timer in the position, they should not expect perfection and appealed to his predecessor for guidance.

He thanked the outgoing chairperson, Councillor Amos Mabuku and his deputy, Councillor Shababa Munihango for their service and pleaded with the councillors and other stakeholders to accord him and his deputy the same support they accorded the predecessors.

Councillor Baboloki Mpebe of Old Kazungula was elected chairperson of Finance as well as Liquor Licensing committees.

Councillors Boitumelo Kanyetu and Helen Diau were elected chairpersons of Education and Self Help Housing Agency committees respectively while Councillor Paul Chaebesele was elected to chair the Physical Planning Committee.

Councillor Munihango was elected to chair the Audit Committee. Ends
