Ministry of Health in conjunction with the South African High Commission will this month launch a project entailing annual donation of hampers to the first babies born on New Year’s Day across the country.
A ministry media release says the project, dubbed ‘Project Mabu’, will be launched June 3 and June 8 in Mmathethe and Maun respectively.
The release says the project will cover the country’s 18 District Health Management Teams (DHMTs),
“This means that the baby who was born first on New Year’s Day in each DHMT, will benefit from this initiative, starting this year,” it says.
The project will see the babies gifted with comprehensive hampers inclusive of key essentials and an additional hamper for the baby’s family, containing mainly staple foods and clothing.
According to the release, Minister of Health, Dr Edwin Dikoloti together with South African high commissioner, Ms Thaninga Shope-Soumah will lead the handover of the donations.
The 2022 Project Mabu sponsors include UNGWA Africa, CA Sales, Choppies Botswana, Woolworths Botswana, FLO-TEK and Kalahari Training Institute.BOPA
