Former president, Dr Festus Mogae has sent a message of condolences to the Khama family, following the passing on of Ms Jacqueline Khama.
“We received the news of the passing on of Ms Jacqueline Khama with shock and sadness. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Khama family as you deal with your loss and with the absence of your beloved sister, mother, relative and friend, ” says Dr Mogae in the message.
He further says the late Ms Khama had a long and devoted service to the country, particularly looking at the years she spent in service at the University of Botswana.
He says she deserved commendation for her modest and gallant contribution.
“It is hard to know what to say in a situation like this, because there are never enough words that can fully capture the depth of what we are feeling,” he says.
However, Dr Mogae says the thoughts of comfort and love that the family receives from others will help to ease their sorrow.
“My family and I pray that you derive solace from the wonderful memories that you have all shared with Jacqueline. May her soul find eternal peace,” he says.
Ms Khama was the first child and only daughter to the country’s founding president, Sir Seretse Khama. She died last week Tuesday aged 72. BOPA
