Companies doing business with Lucara Botswana have been implored to support home-grown businesses to boost local economy.
The call was made by Lucara Botswana general manager, Mr Johane Mchive on Friday during E-Drive Technology Botswana’s (EDTB) donation of school tracksuits and shoes to Supang and Seaseole primary schools in Letlhakane.
He commended EDTB for coming up with an initiative that would in the long run make a huge impact on the lives of pupils, as it would indirectly enhance their performance at school.
Thus, he encouraged them to continue investing in the community.
The manager of EDTB, Mr Godiraone Olatotse said they engaged a textile company in Letlhakane to produce 25 tracksuits for their beneficiaries.
The textile company has also been engaged to produce uniform for all the 20 staff members of EDTB.
E-Drive Technology Botswana is a youth-led local company providing vehicle tracking and fleet management services to Lucara Botswana at Karowe mine.
Mr Olatotse said the company funded school tracksuits and school shoes at a total tune of P21 000.
For his part, Lucara Botswana mining manager, Mr Kavis Kario said the company’s wish was to see its business partners working in unison with it towards forging good relations with communities within which they operate.
Mr Kario noted that their aim was to achieve sustainable mining and good neighbourliness with communities.
He encouraged E-Drive Technology to continue growing its footprint by playing a meaningful role in empowering Batswana. Ends
