22 May 2022

Zion Christian Church, Kganya Botswana has donated an ambulance to Mahlaku Lekganyane Clinic built by the same church in Mmopane.

The donation was done to fulfil a promise made by the founder, Reverend Bishop Dr Barnabas Lekganyane in 2017, Kganya deputy chairperson, Mr Edward Lekganyane stated during a donation ceremony on Thursday.

“By that time, the clinic management staff had sent a request for an ambulance and it was presented to the Kganya board, who did not hesitate to approve it,” he explained.

“Today we are here to fulfil a promise,” he said.

Mr Lekganyane said COVID-19 pandemic delayed acquisition of the ambulance since the church had to shut down for two years as a precautionary measure.

“We re-opened end of April and we are proud that we are here today to donate the ambulance,” he said.

Ministry of Health deputy permanent secretary, Dr Tshepo Machacha said the donation would serve Mmopane as well as Greater Gaborone District Health Management Team.

“Our wish is for our clients to have access to an ambulance and quality emergency care services whenever the need arises, hence with your donation we shall accomplish that,” Dr Machacha stated.

Dr Machacha stated COVID-19 negatively affected the ministry, so they welcomed partnerships to achieve health for all.Village Development Community chairperson, Mr Pogiso Sebitola told BOPA that the help they had received from the church so far was an indication of better things to come. ends
