Segokgo hails Red dot centre opening

Red Dot distribution centre, an ICT distributor with direct distribution contracts with leading technology vendors such as Lenovo, HP, Logitech and Epson has opened an office in Botswana.

Officiating at official opening of the office in Gaborone recently, Minister of Communications, Knowledge and Technology, Mr Thulagano Segokgo said the office came at a time when the country was moving towards the realisation of a knowledge-based economy.

Mr Segokgo said Botswana had been previously served by distributors operating outside Southern Africa and with limited operations within the country.

He said Red dot was the first ICT distribution company to use Botswana as a hub for its Southern Africa operations and was confident that the significant role of providing ICT solutions would be realised in the country.

The minister stated that it was encouraging to witness ICT companies investing in the country, as ICT infrastructure was a prerequisite for the country’s Reset Agenda and its transformation into a high income economy.

Mr Segokgo further stated that ICT was a foundation, upon which other sectors built, to provide innovative digital services and products, achieve operational efficiency and build a competitive edge in the process attained in economic growth.

 “I applaud and thank Red Dot for opening a distribution office in our country and working with us to further bridge the digital divide between Botswana and the rest of the world,” he said.

Minister Segokgo said the advent of COVID-19 had shown nations and individuals alike, the vital role ICT played in the development of countries.

 For his part, Red Dot distribution CEO, Mr Munir Bhwarwani promised to continue providing Batswana with exceptional service and create employment.

Mr Bhwarwani said Red dot had a global mission to bridge the digital divide by providing technological solutions and allied services to Africa through integrity, professionalism and reliable customer service.

He said the company was rooted in the ideology that ensured the quality of services remained unmatched, adding ‘being different is what sets us apart in the fast paced world of IT distributorship’.

He noted that their success also came from uncompromising focus on customer service, partner training programme, continuous marketing and efficient logistics model.

Mr Bhwarwani said not only had Red Dot emerged as one of the premier players in such a stacked distributorship market, but had sailed through two decades of business. ends
