A pupil from Dinonyane primary school in Jwaneng died on the spot this morning after he was hit by a vehicle. In an interview with BOPA, Jwaneng police station commander, Superintendent Thuso Basuti said that the pupil was hit while trying to cross the road. 

“The deceased was in a bus from Sese to Jwaneng where he was schooling. The bus broke down a few kilometers from Jwaneng and the driver then crossed the road to the other side to make a call away from the noise.  The student disembark the bus and tried to cross to the side of the driver,” he said.

Superintendent Basuti said that they are not sure why the deceased alighted the bus. He said that the Nine- year-old boy, who was doing standard three, was certified dead on arrival at the Jwaneng mine hospital, while the driver of the vehicle is assisting the police with investigations.

He said the next of kin have already been notified. BOPA
