Kgosi Jackson advised to remain apolitical

The newly inaugurated Kgosi Moses Jackson of Changate in Nkange  has been advised to remain apolitical, especially that those he led subscribed to different political parties.

Customary Court of Appeal president for the Northern region based in Francistown, Kgosi Christopher Masunga on Friday at the inauguration that Kgosi Jackson should be guided by Bogosi and Customary Court acts.

Kgosi Masunga urged him to remain neutral, even when dealing with a regular offender because, “one is innocent until proven guilty,” and a ruling in a case was guided by evidence brought before the court and not by emotions or personal views.

He said bogosi was no walk in the park but following the guiding principles would make his work easier while at the same bearing in mind that he should not be a dictator.

Kgosi Masunga said he should be careful how he interacted with people because some would want to be close to him just so they could get favours, especially when in they were in the wrong.

“Watch out for the relationship you have with your people,” Kgosi Masunga emphasised.

Accepting the responsibility, Kgosi Jackson said he appreciated the trust the people of Changate had on him.

He said he aimed to continue his father and sister, Kgosi Gabadzo Changate’s legacy who had been holding fort for him while still working at Botswana Meat Commission.

He promised to work with them with integrity, respect and botho to advance their village ENDS
