Cash incentives for Zebras

Debswana Diamond Company has given a P150 000 cash incentive to the senior national soccer team.
The cheque was given to Botswana Football Association leadership at Lekidi Football Centre on Monday, October 28. The money would be shared among players as reward for their efforts in the World Cup qualifiers.
Botswana failed to qualify for Brazil 2014 after finishing third in Group A with seven points from six matches. Ethiopia won the group and progressed to the qualification play-offs stage.
Though the Zebras fell short of expectations in the qualifying process, the management of Debswana felt that the team deserved credit for the way they performed under difficult circumstances.
“We support sport in a big way because we believe sport plays an important role in building character, especially discipline. Debswana continues to share the dream that the Zebras would qualify for continental and world competitions in future,” said company spokesperson, Esther Kanaimba-Senai.
Botswana Premier League chairman, Mokganedi Molefe accepted the money on behalf of Botswana Football Association. He said the incentive would motivate the players to do well in future matches. ENDS
