21 Apr 2022

The Jo’Speaks consultancy has launched the third season of the Ultimate Motivational Speaker competition.

Speaking during a media briefing to unveil the competition Wednesday, Dr Kgomotso Jongman explained that the competition was organised with the goal of searching, showcasing and nurturing talent by providing motivational speakers with the platform to tell their own authentic stories and inspire other Batswana across- all walks of life.

He said the past two seasons produced the finest speakers who had gone on to make their mark in the arena while also making substantial changes to their lives and impacting the community positively.

Dr Jongman said the programme was meant to develop Batswana on speaking and motivation thus creating a social enterprise network meant to give back and create a pool of speakers in the country.

He said it was not about speaking but about leaders who could create an impact.

He said even the topic discussed such as emotional intelligence, financial literacy, relationships, fame and money among others were geared towards making an impact in the lives of people.

Dr Jongman said auditions would take place in August in Gaborone while eliminations would run from September to October.

Only three contestants would make it to the grand finale with the winner pocketing P10 000 and a trip to Cape Town. The runner-up will pocket P7 500 while third-place will get P5 000.

Relating her experiences with the competition, the 2020 ultimate motivational speaker winner Ms Mosa Ramopedi said the competition had turned her into an entrepreneur.

She said after her journey with the competition, she started her own company Mogote Empires which created documentaries and reality shows about real-life experiences.

She said growing up as a child from the other side of the economic fence being underprivileged was a pushing factor for her.

For her part, another past competitor and first runner Ms Luthando Ratau said her journey with the competition was in a way a healing journey for her own life story.

She said the competition created a platform for her to reach where she wanted to be.

She said she had been able to become a transformational speaker and had used that skill to empower people.

She runs a parenting programme that aims to improve relations between parents and teens. Ms Ratau also runs a beauty pageant in the Kgatleng District. Ends
