20 Apr 2022
Traffic lights at the New Lobatse Road and Molepolole Road intersection (bus rank) have been removed to pave way for installation of new ones.
A Ministry of Transport and Communications media release says the work, which commenced Monday, was expected to take 14 days.
Explaining that the project is part ongoing road improvement works in Greater Gaborone, the release says it would also entail installation of sleeves and manholes at the intersection.
During the construction period, the ministry would be closely monitoring activities at the intersection, says the release.
It further says precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of road users and to minimise disturbance of traffic flow whilst construction is underway.
The release advises members of the public using the road network to be vigilant, exercise patience and cooperate with fellow road users as well as observe road signs at all times.
The work is part of the Botswana Integrated Transport Project aimed at improving Greater Gaborone transport system efficiency.
Meanwhile, the ministry has expressed gratitude to members of the public for their continued cooperation while construction is ongoing on various road projects in Greater Gaborone.ends
