Man dies in an accident

Police in Kazungula have recorded one fatal accident that claimed the life of a 50-year-old male foreign national.
According to Superintendent Phetogo Philemon told BOPA that the accident occurred around 1930 on April 16, along the Pandamatenga-Kazungula Road.
He said the man, was travelling alone in a Caravella mini bus, from Pandamatenga to Kazungula when he hit an elephant.
He said the man was certified dead on arrival at the hospital, while the elephant that was hit also died.
Supt Philemon appealed to drivers to be vigilant at all times as the roads in the district were infested with wild animals.
On other issues, he commended the residents and road users in the Kazungula Police jurisdiction for their cooperation during the Easter holidays.
He indicated that a total of 80 road offences comprising vehicle defects, failure to produce driving licences among others; were recorded during the holiday operation.
He said the police also recorded a total of 23 COVID-19 related offences such failure to wear masks and failure to observe social distancing.
Supt Philemon pleaded with Batswana to continue wearing masks until such as time that the relevant authorities declare it safe not to do so.
He further said other minor cases included assault, theft, malicious damage to property, abetting and aiding unlawful stay, and entry through ungazetted points. ENDS
