Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) has donated two bus shelters worth P55 000 to Letlhakane Community.
The general manager of Water Utilities Corporation in Letlhakane, Mr Monametsi Ramosu stated that the donation would help build relationship with the community and disseminate information on services provided by the corporation.
Handing over the bus shelters in Letlhakane on Tuesday, Mr Ramosu said through the donation, the WUC wanted to show compassion and love towards the communities.
The corporation also spent P12 000 in purchasing 21 feeding buckets, 21 bowls and seven 20 litres sanitisers to be donated to schools in Mosu and Mmeya.
Mr Ramosu urged the public to pay water bills and encouraged multi-residentials landlords to separate water metres for their tenants so that they could each pay their own water bills.
By so doing, he said the WUC would reduce conflicts and confusion on payments of water bills in multi-residential homes.
He further stated that WUC was currently supplying Letlhakane with water from their own infrastructure, citing that they sometimes request Debswana to assist when they experienced water supply challenges.
Mr Ramosu said that Makgaba has a waterline supplying the village, while Sekgophane ward was supplied from Mmadikola.
Further, he said that Toromoja was the only village that was supplied through bowsing since the village did not have a borehole.
He noted that the corporation once identified a borehole in Toromoja, unfortunately it produced high saline water.
For his part, Kgosi Ewetsemang Retlhatloleng of Letlhakane said they used to have acute shortage of water in Letlhakane but that was no longer an issue.
Kgosi Retlhatloleng commended WUC for their constant updates on scheduled water interruptions in Letlhakane, citing that their water interruptions in the village were only only for a short period.
The Boteti Sub Council chairperson, Mr Molemi Galeragwe commended WUC for expanding water network in Letlhakane and establishing a water treatment plant in Mmatshumo. ENDS
