South East football tournament kicks off
13 Apr 2022
Ramotswa social clubs will hold their inaugural Easter football tournament at the the village’s showgrounds from April 15 to 18.
The four-day tournament will include teams from Ramotswa, Taung, Mogobane and Otse.
Senior administrative officer in the Ramotswa MP’s office, Tumelo Ramopedi said Supremes Sporting Club, Ditshephe, Letloa, Peacemakers, Bluetooth, Senegal Estate, 68 Parliament, Team Shinkisha and MOB XI will battle it out for the coveted first prize.
Ramopedi said the MP’s office would sponsor the tournament to the tune of P50 000.
He, however, said there would be no prize money for the teams since the tournament was for charity.
He said the winning team would choose how they wanted to give back to the community.
He said this was not the first time the MP’s office sponsored such an event, adding that another football tournament was in December.
Ramopedi also highlighted that they saw it fit to take part in bringing this kind of activities to keep people busy, entertained and out of harm’s way and to help reduce drinking and driving accidents for people traveling long distances to have fun.
Ramotswa District Health Management Team (DHMT) will partake in the tournament as well by sensitising them about testicular cancer and also teach people about the COVID-19 vaccines. Those who wish to vaccinate would also be given the opportunity to get their vaccinations at the show ground.
Ramopedi said the tournament would also help small businesses by giving them free stalls to sell their products at the football matches. ends
