There are three vacant posts of headman of arbitration in Nkange.
The posts are in Tutume, Nswazwi and Changate.
Local government and rural development assistant minister, Mr Mabuse Pule said this when responding to a parliamentary question on Monday.
Mr Pule said that consultations by Bangwato Tribal Administration to appoint proposed headman of arbitration for Changate and Nswazwi were ongoing while the name that had been proposed for Tutume was still being considered.
He also told MPs that there was a total of 68 dikgosi including headman of arbitration and the Nkange Constituency.
On the other hand, Mr Pule indicated that there were four pending appointments for headman of record and other positions in the constituency.
He said recommendation to appoint chief representative for Tutume was referred back for proper consultation by Bangwato Tribal Administration and expected to be concluded by end of next month.
He added that consultation was ongoing to appoint head of record for Goshwe saying that seven names were submitted in 2018 for the minister to choose but the matter was also referred back to Bangwato Tribal Administration to submit a name for consideration.
Again, he said consultations to appoint headman of record for Dagwi and Matobo were ongoing.
“Clearing of the backlog for Nkange Constituency will be determined by the speed at which disputes are resolved during consultations.
Where there is a dispute, the complainants sometimes take the legal route which is determined by the courts and the process is also dependent on how quickly the community or aggrieved parties resolve their differences,” Mr Pule explained.
The area MP, Dr Never Tshabang, had asked the minister to state the number of pending appointments of headman of arbitration in the constituency, the number and state when he intended to clear the backlog of pending appointments. ENDS
