Real Estate Development Company (RDC) Properties Limited has vowed to support the management of Ngwapa Primary School in an endeavour to achieve academic excellence.
Chief Executive Officer of Real Estate Development Company (RDC) Properties Limited Mr Guido Giachetti said during Ngwapa Primary prize-giving ceremony on Friday that they wished to nurture and reward excellence to improve the lives of communities within their jurisdiction.
He thanked all who played a part by supporting students and teachers to ensure that the school attained a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2021 PSLE results making it to be among the Top 10 nationwide amidst the advent of the global pandemic of COVID-19.
He said students were the future and could do better academically through support from their families and stakeholders.
Mr Giachetti explained that since the event could not take place in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they found it necessary to include students who attained A’s from the year 2019 until 2021.
RDC Properties awarded the 18 students who managed to obtain A in their final examinations from the past three years with a monetary gift of P1 400.
The company with support from Car Fill also donated P30 000 towards the school maintenance through their Corporate Social Initiative.
For her part Chief Education Officer for Sefhare Sub Region Ms Alice Sitale hailed the involvement of village leadership, stakeholders, parents and teachers in the children’s education saying it contributed to the school’s good performance in the past five years.
She further thanked the Giachetti family and their partners for their contribution to the school which she said came a long way in motivating learners to achieve desired results.
She mentioned that the Ministry of Basic Education believed in investing in education as it could be used as a tool to develop young people into a credible human resource base.
Ngwapa Primary school head, Ms Baboloki Meleko said the Giachetti family had always supported the school through a tradition dating back to 1995 which was started by Marco Giachetti, the father of Mr Guido Giachetti.
She said as such they appreciated the notable gesture saying that it was motivation to do better all the time despite challenges they encountered.
Ms Meleko said the challenges they were faced with included shortage of teachers’ accommodation, poor roads in their village, lack of photocopying machine and internet connection as well as manifestation of bats in classrooms which makes teaching and learning difficult.
An official from Mahalapye Sub-district Council Mr Motlhokomedi Kebasentse said it was heart-warming that students managed to perform well despite the challenges they encountered and urged the remaining students to maintain the results.
Mr Kebasentse also commended all the stakeholders involved for the enormous support they gave to the school which made the school perform well. ENDS
