Stronger ties for Botswana Mozambique

Botswana and Mozambique will use the visit by the latter’s President, Mr Filipe Nyusi to strengthen bilateral relations. President Nyusi, who arrives Wednesday, is coming at the invitation of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and is expected to spend three days.

A press release from the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation, says during the visit, the two heads of state will exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.

They will also use the opportunity to discuss a number of key issues, among them transport and communications, tourism, defence and security as well as energy.

The two heads of state will also seek to broaden the scope of bilateral cooperation in other sectors, such as information and communication technologies, and Special Economic Zones, says the release.

During the visit, the two Presidents will address Botswana Business Forum on issues of trade and investment .

The two leaders will also officiate at the official opening of the Samora Machel Memorial Museum in Lobatse.

The visit comes against the backdrop of Botswana- Mozambique Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC), which started on April 7 and ends April 11 in Gaborone. Mozambique’s first lady, Dr Isaura Nyusi, cabinet ministers, and senior government officials will accompany President Nyusi.

The President and his delegation will depart Botswana on Saturday. ENDS
