Ministry of Health and Wellness will offer electronic COVID-19 vaccination certificate services at District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) offices across the country effective today.

A media release issued by the ministry says the public can visit the nearest DHMT office for guidance on where to get the electronic certificates.

It however reminds the public that not all countries require electronic certificates.

Therefore, if one has no immediate intention to travel to countries requiring electronic vaccination certificates, they do not need to rush for the conversion of their vaccination card, explains the release.

It says the decision to offer electronic COVID-19 vaccination certificates was prompted by the high number of Batswana and residents who flocked the ministry headquarters’ offices for facilitation as some countries in the region required them for all travellers.

“The electronic certificate has a QR code that allows officials at ports of entry to scan and access vaccination data about the traveller. This helps in ensuring that all vaccination certificates presented at ports of entry are genuine,” notes the release.

Those needing the electronic certificates are required to bring their vaccination cards and identity documents.BOPA
