Ghanzi council to construct offices for extension workers

The Ghanzi District Council will, funds permitting, construct offices instead of a house for the agricultural demonstrator.
Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi said this in response to a parliamentary question recently.
Mr Molebatsi said the agricultural demonstrator’s house in Kalkfontein was burnt in 1987 not 10 years ago and the officer who occupied the house by then was surcharged and full payment was done. He added that the ministry managed to build a house for the agricultural demonstrator at Kalkfontein through drought relief funds under the Village Development Committee (VDC) at another site which was designated by the VDC and the house constructed was still in good condition.
“The burnt house cost estimate made in November 2008 by the Department of Buildings in 2008 was P203 439.50 and no funds were awarded for the maintenance of the structure, the ministry decided to take a deliberate action to construct offices for the extension workers at the site if funds will be available,” he said.
Ghanzi South MP, Mr Motsamai Motsamai, wanted to know the causes for the delay in rehabilitating the agricultural demonstrator’s house in Ghanzi South Constituency that was gutted by fire over 10 years ago. ends
