Team BK social club has been hailed for their determination towards making a difference in other people’s lives.

Team BK donated sanitary pads and toiletries to boarding pupils of Tlhalogang Junior Secondary School (JSS) at Borolong on Friday.

The school has an enrolment of 1 177 made up of 605 girls and 572 boys.

A total of 793 are day scholars while 384 accommodated in school hostels are from Shashe Mooke, Chadide, Makobo and Borolong.

Head of department - Silver House, Ms Doreen Mudongo said the donation would go a long way in easing the lives of boarders, who sometimes lack sanitary pads or share toiletries among.

Team BK chairperson, Mr Jan Erasmus said their objectives was to support Government’s initiatives of self-reliance and Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Mr Erasmus said as many families endured challenges of Gender Based Violence (GBV) which affected children, Team BK found it advisable to extend a helping hand more, especially to students.

“Since the last six month, we have been collecting at-least P1 from members as contribution to buy sanitary pads for girls and toiletries for boys at Tlhalogang JSS,” he said.

Mr Erasmus noted that their other objective was to contribute meaningfully to the lives of both boys and girls so that they did not feel left abandoned irrespective of the challenges they were faced with.

Founder of Team BK, Ms Bokani Galeitsewe said their ambition was to own a shopping complex with which they would be able to support considerable members of the community regularly.

Ms Galeitsewe said there was need for Batswana to support one  another, more especially the less privileged members of the community.

Team BK comprises of over 1 500 members who pride themselves with prudent financial management.

“We control how we use our money, not our money controlling us,” she said, adding that they used their money wisely and profitably with good record keeping.

Ms Galeitsewe, however, noted that since the inception of Team BK, there had been changes.

She said the club was engaged in such activities as purchasing of building material for members and construction of their houses as well as taking care of members’  lobola, wedding anniversaries, birthday and others.

Area councillor, Mr Major Kamongenge said the donation was in line with one of the aspirations of Vision 2036 of Good Health for All.

He said sanitary pads afforded the girl child dignity. ENDS
