Kgosi Charles Letsholathebe has pleaded with Kgosi Tawana II to return to the kgotla and serve his community.
He made the plea during his farewell party on Saturday March 26 at Maun main kgotla, where he stated that Kgosi Tawana long resigned from politics, a development that gave hope of his returning to bogosi.
Matsaakgang regiment in collaboration with Batawana Tribal Administration organised a celebration to acknowledge Kgosi Letsholathebe’s contribution as he retires from public service after 59 years.
Kgosi Letsholathebe, who is also the overseer of Kgosi Tawana’s regiment, Matsaakgang, said that Kgosi Tawana did the right thing by announcing to his uncles and tribesmen, his interest in joining politics and urged him to follow the same route to inform them when he would be assuming his duty as paramount chief.
“Keletso ya me jaaka ke tlogela tiro jaana ke go bona o boetse mo kgotleng o direla morafe wag ago,” he said.
Kgosi Letsholathebe appreciated that Kgosi Tawana’s sister, Kgosi Kealetile Moremi had done her best as regent, but said time had come for Kgosi Tawana to resume the throne.
A representative from Matsaakgang regiment, Kgosi Gadibintshe Saudu said that questions from the community were abound regarding Kgosi Tawana’s return to the kgotla.
He said such indicated the community’s wish for him to resume his duties as a paramount chief. Kgosi Saudu said Kgosi Tawana once promised that he would return to the kgotla after his term as MP elapsed.
Meanwhile, different groups showered Kgosi Letsholathebe with gifts in appreciation of his service. Matsaakgang regiment honoured him with camping equipment, UCCSA congregation gave him a P1 200 voucher while Batawana Tribal Administration and Village Development Committee bought him a washing machine and a traditional chair, among others.
When presenting the gifts, Kgosi Tawana thanked Kgosi Letsholathebe for serving his people wholeheartedly.
He said the camping equipment would be useful when he travelled the district performing his tribal duties since he was retiring from public service and not bogosi.
Kgosi Tawana wished Kgosi Letsholathebe luck as he opened a new chapter of his life. Ends
