The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, through Central District Council, has submitted a proposal to construct a fully-fledged primary school at Letoreng under National Development Plan 12 and District Development Plan 9, for consideration with other competing priorities.
Assistant Minister of local government and rural development ministry, Mr Setlhabelo Modukanele, was answering on behalf of Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulagano Segokgos on Tuesday.
Mr Modukanele told Parliament that the decision to upgrade a satellite school to a fully-fledged school was informed by resource availability, number of learners as well as the distance that learners travelled to and from the nearest school. Sefhare-Ramokgonami legislator, Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang had asked the minister to state what informed upgrading of a satellite primary school to a fully-fledged stand-alone primary school.
Dr Gobotswang also wanted to know if the ministry had plans to upgrade Letoreng Satellite Primary School to a fully- stand-alone primary school, including specific timelines. ENDS
