Kweneng District Council (KDC) has approved a total of P438 942 220 as funds budgeted for 2022/23 financial year.

Tabling the proposed budget during a special full council meeting on Friday, Finance Committee chairperson, Mr Mathata Selaledi said the funds included a Revenue Support Grant of P417 899 440 and council’s own sources of revenue of P21 042 780.

He said a slight decrease of 1.6 per cent was recorded when comparing the 2022/23 tentative budget with that of the financial year ending 2021/2022.

The 2021/2022 proposed budget was capped at P446 099 660 compared to P438 942 220 budgeted for the next financial year. Presenting the budget allocations for the four Kweneng sub districts, Mr Selaledi said Molepolole Administrative Authority was allocated the largest share of over P139 million, about 31.6 per cent of the total share.

Letlhakeng and Mogoditshane sub districts got almost an equal share of P111 and P110 million respectively which translated to 25.1 per cent and 25.01 per cent of the total sum while Kweneng District Headquarters was allocated the smallest share of over P77 million, about 18.1 per cent of the total budget.

Mr Selaledi further said a proposed budget of P438 065 710 would be spent according to the following segments; P240 181 300 or 54.7 per cent had been allocated for personnel emoluments, P64 744 790 or 14.7 per cent was allocated for running expenses, P41 955 410 or 9.6 per cent would be spent on establishment expenses and P92 060 740 or 21 per cent had been allocated for special votes. ends
