Parents should take lead in producing disciplined children

15 Mar 2022

Parents have been urged to take lead in instilling positive behaviour in their children.

Makoro Bricks and Tiles general manager operations, Ms Dorcus Mosesha, said a positive relationship between teachers, students and parents was crucial.
Officiating at Tswapong Bokone Brigade (TBB) Class of 2021 prize giving ceremony in Lerala on Friday, Ms Mosesha said parents must be at the forefront in teaching their children principled behaviour.

She said a strong family institution produced a well-disciplined child.

She further said teachers were only taking over from what parents had done.  Ms Mosesha added that the three legged system, including parents, teachers and students should work together to produce skilled human capital.

Ms Mosesha said education was the basis of human resource development as it provided students with competencies enabling them to compete globally as well as align with government’s vision of moving from a resource based to a knowledge based economy.

As such, she encouraged students to aim high and develop into future employers and entrepreneurs.

Ms Mosesha also said, for students to do well during examinations, they must be motivated by teachers and have adequate resources.

For her part, Tswapong Bokone Brigade Principal Ms Toyi Mukani said the school was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Ms Mukani said the institution was determined to produce graduates who would meet requirements of the labour market.

Ms Mukani said technical and vocational education was held in high regard and therefore commended the institution for achieving position four with 70 per cent out of the 35 brigades and four technical colleges offering certificate courses in 2021.

She said vocational education remained an integral part of the fourth industrial revolution. ENDS
