Each of the 190 participating countries in the expo, which commenced October last year and ends March 31, is afforded a national day, where it is given the spotlight to showcase itself to a global audience.

In an interview with BOPA, Botswana Investment and Trade Centre’s (BITC) brand manager Ms Kutlo Moagi said since March is Botswana Month, different events would be hosted to showcase different sectors and aspects of the country.

Ms Moagi said the planned business seminars and investment conference would  bring together entrepreneurs from Botswana and the UAE to explore opportunities for investment, collaborations and partnerships.

She said throughout the six months of the expo, various sectors including mining and beneficiation, innovation, tourism, arts and culture, agriculture and foods of Botswana were promoted through collaboration with different stakeholders.

The activities were designed to among others drive participation amongst stakeholders, enhance country visibility and competitiveness at global stage and attract investment, Ms Moagi said.

The expo, she said, also provided a platform to raise the country’s international profile and drive investment and diversification particularly through creating international markets for local products.

Botswana’s participation in the expo presented immense opportunities to attract trade and investment, networking and cooperation with the global community, Ms Moagi said.
