Passengers sustain injuries in mishap

Police in Good Hope are investigating an incident in which passengers escaped with injuries when a Gaborone-bound mini-bus overturned just as it was about to leave Good Hope, Monday afternoon.
Assistant Superintendent Moses Gaboswelwe of Good Hope police confirmed the incident in an interview on Tuesday.
“Our preliminary investigations, we suggest that the bus driver was trying to avoid a Nissan bakkie that was joining the road when he lost control,” he said. From the 21 passengers, two sustained serious injuries while others were treated for minor injuries and released from Good Hope hospital.
The seriously injured duo were transferred to Princess Marina hospital in Gaborone.
The police revealed that one of the passengers, a lady in her mid 40s, fractured a leg while another female passenger complained of back pains with a swollen neck.
Mr Gaboswelwe said the driver of the bakkie in his mid 30s was in the police custody helping them with investigations.
He said the bakkie driver was found to have alcohol in his blood. The assistant superintendent urged drivers to be vigilant all the time to avoid accidents, adding that it was also advisable for them to learn to be accommodative of the mistakes of other drivers as that was likely to save lives and property.
