Nico end first round on a high

06 Mar 2022

Morgan Gaseitsiwe’s first half strike ensured that pacesetters Nico United end the first round of the First Division North league on a high.

Nico have set a nine point gap between them and second placed, Peacemakers, after dispatching Maun Terrors 1-0 in the final match of the first round on Saturday.
The game, which was to be played on January 29, was rescheduled following torrential rains in the copper-nickel mining town.

The Botshelo Pelokgosi’s charges look like they are set on the right course to returning to the premier league, but will have to ward off challenges from Peacemakers and Eleven Angels.

Of the possible 30 points Nico have amassed 27, dropping only three in their spirited run while Terrors only managed eight and are perched at the bottom of the log where they risk relegation.
However, Terrors coach, Boynyana Galeboe hopes his boys may pull some survival tricks to remain in the second tier league when the second round resumes on March 12. ENDS
