28 Feb 2022

Establishment of a Rural Administration Centre (RAC) in Rakops estimated to cost P8 million will enhance service delivery in Boteti West, Deputy District Commissioner Mr Ewetse Selelo said on Friday when responding to councillors.

He stated funds for the project would be disbursed during the 2022/2023 financial year. Mr Selelo explained that a leadership consultative meeting held in January 2020 proposed that the CCP funds be used to establish the centre in Rakops.

He noted that the village leadership agreed to the proposal.

Further, the Vice President who is area MP had also consulted on the issue, and there never was any objection, he said. Councillor Goratwamang Gosalamang of Kedia/Mokoboxane and Councillor Onkhuparetse Monnaatsie of Motopi/Makalabedi had complained that the leadership was not consulted on the proposal to establish a RAC in Rakops through CCP funds.

Ms Shaka indicated that construction of one block of a two-storey building, comprising 24 offices with ablution, one guard house, security fence and staff accommodation would commence during the next financial year.

She also stated that paving of the remaining 200metres of the road from the Kgotla via the Rakops sub-land board to Nicodemus Primary School would also be undertaken at an estimated cost of P400 000.
