Church last bastion for the needy
28 Feb 2022
The Church is a place of last resort when all else has failed. Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) president, Dr Tebogo Motlhagodi said this when donating food hampers to residents of Shashemooke, Francistown Block 3, Ditladi and Gerald Estates recently.
City of Angels Apostolic Church donated the food hampers, worth P20 800.
“Every person must feel safe and know that the church remains the place to lean on when they have nowhere else to go for help,” he said.
Dr Motlhagodi said whenever people gave, they impacted lives positively, adding churches ought to prioritise those in need.
About ten individuals were identified in each location. “In situations we cannot physically intervene, such as recent criminal activities, we need to invoke the power of prayer,” Dr Motlhagodi said. Said Archbishop Salome Ntsebele: “The church ought to proactively feed the poor. Church is for those who were not born with a silver spoon. We show God’s pure love by helping the less privileged.”
Ms Kediemetswe Edward a social worker from Francistown City Council applauded the church for its gesture. She explained 10 individuals were selected from each location. In making these selections they did not disregard others who were in similar situations, she said. Ends
