Students must focus on studies - Mmolotsi

22 Oct 2013

Students have been advised to make informed decisions and focus on their studies to shape a better future for themselves.

Speaking at an event organised by Maikano, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Francistown on October 19, the Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi said students should learn to take responsibility for their lives in order to reach their desired destiny.

Mr Mmolotsi advised the students against engaging in love affairs and encouraged them to pursue their dreams of getting education first before being romantically involved. The MP also cautioned students against falling pregnant and baby dumping, saying such deeds would ruin their future.

He said it was clear that people who dumped babies practised unprotected sex.  It had also become common that people dumped babies and cited poverty as the root cause. “Let us not use poverty as a scapegoat and stop the act,” he said.   He said people should know that dumping babies was tantamount to murder and no one had the right to kill babies as they also have the right to live.
