Only 27 schools have functioning photocopying machines

24 Feb 2022

Only 27 out of 38 schools in the Maun Administration Authority have functioning photocopying machines.

Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Mabuse Pule said the schools had been provided with machines through the normal budgeting process through batches where the budget permits.

He said 24 photocopying machines were contracted to Copiers Botswana for maintenance and the replacement of toners.

The assistant minister said other schools without machines should seek assistance from their nearest neighbouring schools.

Schools without electricity, he said, were not included in the batch but after connection, they would be considered in future, when the budget permits.

Maun East legislator, Mr Goretetse Kekgonegile had asked the minister if he was aware that primary schools in Maun Administration Authority experienced challenges due to non-functioning photocopying machines.

He wanted to know if the ministry has a photocopying machine provision, replacement and maintenance policies. ENDS
