Athlone hospital in Lobatse will undergo major maintenance this financial year, says Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe.
Answering a question in Parliament on Monday, Mr Lelatisitswe said the hospital was kept in an operational status through minor and reactive maintenance which were done as and when the need arises throughout the year.
He however assured MP’s that service delivery was not compromised.
The assistant minister said Athlone Hospital was not budgeted for under the Economic Recovery and Transformation Plan (ERTP) or prioritised during mid-term review of NDP11 due to budgetary constraints.
Lobatse legislator, Dr Thapelo Matsheka had asked for an update on the commencement of refurbishment of Athlone Hospital as it was budgeted for under the Economic Recovery and Transformation Plan (ERTP) and mid-term review of National Development Plan 11 (NDP11).
Dr Matsheka further asked whether the delay in refurbishment was not compromising quality service delivery at the hospital for Lobatse residentsand its periphery. Ends
