Plot allocation delay worries Tewane

Tewane residents have raised a concern over delays in allocation of residential plots.
They said this in a kgotla meeting addressed by Central District Council chairperson, Mr Ketshwereng Galeragwe recently.
The meeting was intended to bring council services to the people.
Kgosi Kerapetse Kalanke of Tewane said she had been given a waiting list of over 500 people for residential plots.
Residents also complained about lack of electricity connection in the village.
Village Development Committee chairperson, Mr Tatani Mbakhwa, said government houses did not have plot certificates which hindered water and electricity conncetions.
He further said residents travelled long distance to fetch water from standpipes pleading with the council chairperson to ensure that water connections were made in residential plots.
During rainy seasons, residents’ movements was affected due to lack of water drainage system and appealed for a bridge in their village.
Responding to residents plot allocation’concerns, Mahalapye Sub-land Board vice chairperson, Mr Jenamo Morupisi said government had come with an initiative to allocate serviced land adding that planning had to be done and said such takes time hence a delay in plot allocation.
He further said they had to survey the land to ensure if it was safe for residential plots allocation.
Mr Galegagwe told the residents that Water Utilities Corporation promised to construct a water plant in the village to supply Tewane, Radisele, Mogome and Mokgware.
He urged land board to work round the clock to ensure allocation of plots before end of this financial year.
Mr Galeragwe promised to bag the concerns raised by residents and act on them accordingly.
When giving vote of thanks, Mahalapye North counsellor, Ms Julia Miranda said she was grateful for the council chairperson for having taken his time to address and shared with the residents on the services offered by council. Ends
