Court remands double murder accused

Chief Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu on Tuesday remanded in custody 28-year-old Nelson Dibebe of Matlapana ward in Maun for two counts of murder. The accused person, who is said to have murdered 60-year-old Ms Merafe Sianga and seven-year-old Andile Camm on February 13, will appear again for mention on March 1. The prosecutor, Ms Dimpho Motseonageng of the Directorate on Public Prosecution, requested the court to remand the accused in custody since investigations were at an initial stage.
Ms Motseonageng said the state would call an investigating officer in the next mention to state reasons for remand.
Particulars of the offence are that the accused person murdered the two who are his mother in law and step son with a sharp object when they were sleeping. BOPA
