No plans to upgrade Ngami roads

13 Feb 2022

Government has no plans to upgrade roads in Ngami constituency from gravel to bitumen standard due to budgetary constraints.

Responding to a question in Parliament on Thursday, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulagano Segokgo said the Bodibeng-Toteng road was last graded in June 2021 and planned to be graded in March this year.

The Sehitwa-Kareng road was also graded in June and was to be graded in March. As for Samedupi-Somelo road, it was planned to be graded in May together with the Kareng-Tsau Habu Junction, while the grading of Nokaneng-Qangwa/Dobe road would be done in June this year, he said.

Mr Segokgo said his ministry had planned to grade the roads in January but it could not make it as all the graders were engaged on grading the bypasses along Gumare Mohembo road. Ngami MP, Mr Caterpillar Hikuama, had asked the minister when the Bodibeng-Toteng, Sehitwa-Kareng, Samedupi-Somelo, Kareng-Tsau Habu Junction-Habu Village; and Nokaneng-Qangwa/Dobe would be upgraded to bitumen standard.
