Makala Ward Development Committee has donated a house worth P 158 094 to Mr Mpho Keitumetse of the same ward in Serowe.

The committee chairperson, Mr Baendi Mpedi said they were motivated  by the Vision 2036 pillar of Human Social Development, to join hands with government and help those in need.

Mr Mpedi, who was speaking during the house handing over ceremony in Serowe on Monday said the committee sought to empower Mr Keitumetse who  had no place to sleep.

He said the project commenced end of 2018, a year after the beneficiary was identified.

Mr Mpedi said the plan was to build the house from VDC rental revenues but the funds were not enough hence they approached businesses for donations though no one came to their rescue because it was at a time when COVID-19 began and businesses were negatively affected.

He said the project was completed at the end of last year and some businesses assisted with household items.

Serowe Sub-council principal economics officer, Ms Keneilwe Zambo praised Makala ward committee and other stakeholders who took part in the project.

She encouraged them to continue helping others in similar situations.

For his part, Mr Keitumetse thanked the committee for coming for coming to his rescue. Ends
