Kwape to attend AU summit

Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation Dr Lemogang Kwape will represent President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi at the African Union’s (AU) 35th summit billed for this weekend in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
According to a ministry media release, the ordinary session of heads of state and government starts Saturday ending Sunday.
It says the summit will be held under the theme, ‘Building Resilience in Nutrition on the African Continent: Accelerate the Human Capital, Social and Economic Development’.
Among others, the summit will discuss the wellbeing of African citizens in the context of health, nutrition and food security and also consider reports on the state of peace and security on the continent and the AU’s response to COVID-19.
The summit will usher in the new AU bureau of the assembly for 2022 and mark the conclusion of the AU chairship by Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi.
Senegalese President Mr Macky Sall will take over from Mr Tshisekedi, says the release.
The summit will be preceded by a two-day ordinary session of the AU Executive Council which commences today. Ends
