01 Feb 2022

Ten youths from Moshawana Ward in Mochudi recently received sponsorships worth P250 000 from Boitekanelo College.

The college academic registrar, Mr Tshepo Mosome said the sponsorships were to give back to Batswana and empower the youths.

Mr Mosome said the 10 chosen students would be given an opportunity to pursue a Certificate in Health Care Assistance at Boitekanelo College and each would receive P25 000 to cover full tuition.

He said the students should be ready to serve Batswana in any health institution across Botswana.

“One of our institution’s vision is to change lives through quality health and education. As Boitekanelo College, we believe that this opportunity will change your lives and that you are ready to take the opportunity and work hard”, Mr Mosome said to the students.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Moshawana Ward councillor, Mr Basiki Lebekwe said he saw it important to approach Boitekanelo College concerning sponsorship donations in his area.

Mr Lebekwe commended the college for the gesture and noted that the beneficiaries would improve their lives and contribute significantly to the economy following completion of study.

“Education is very important nowadays. 10 youth now have the opportunity to go to school and use their qualifications to seek better jobs. I urge you to work hard and use the opportunity wisely,” he said.

Mr Lebekwe said leaders had an obligation to empower youth and see them do better in life.

Artesia Ward councilor, Mr Tshepo Ruele said as leaders they wished not only to provide services to the people but focus also on providing personal development in the form of education.

“Boitekanelo College and the ward councillor have gone an extra mile for you to get the sponsorships. It is now your turn as students and parents to do your part and work together to get those qualifications. Do not let us down,” Mr Ruele encouraged. ENDS
