Shortage of funds troubles Anne-Stine centre
01 Feb 2022
Coordinator of St Anne-Stine Centre for children with disabilities, Ms Mary Rradipodi has decried the shortage of funds at the centre.
Speaking during a visit by the Molepolole North MP, Mr Oabile Regoeng to the centre recently, Ms Rradipodi said the financial woes prevented them from running the centre smoothly.
She said the funds received from both the government and the community were not enough to keep the centre going, revealing that they had not been able to pay those who retired their severance benefits, which had led to some taking the centre to the industrial court.
“We even cannot afford to have our own lawyer,” he further lamented.
Ms Rradipodi said the challenge had also delayed the development of their two plots, pleading with the government to at least help in developing one of the plots by building rental houses to ease the pressure.
In response, MP Regoeng promised to take the matter to Parliament, especially regarding land.
He encouraged health officials from government and private institutions to visit the centre in their spare time, to help. ENDS
