Rotary International Club Francistown has donated six wheel chairs to some villages in the Shashe West constituency.

Speaking at a handing over event in Sebina on Friday January 28, Rotary Club member, Mr Munyaradzi Chikambure, said the organisation aimed at ensuring that every person, besides their disability, would not be left out in any way.

Mr Chikambure said some people were disadvantaged due to their disability. 

He, therefore, said the organisation worked hard to close such gaps.

He further noted that they decided to give out wheel chairs to enable recipients to easily move around on their own.

He also stated that the club was open to communities to come forth with their requests to help people living with disabilities.

Mr Chikambure, nonetheless, said though they were open to boosting community projects, they could not provide financial assistance.

Appreciating the gesture, Shashe West MP, Mr Fidelis Molao explained that their relationship with the Rotary Club started last year.

He said last year, the club donated to Mathangwane and club members were extending assistance to more people around the constituency. 

This, he said, was being done through the assistance of social and community development office at the council.

Furthermore, he highlighted that there were still some people with disability that were looking forward to good Samaritans who could help improve their well-being.

Meanwhile, a sister to one of the beneficiaries, Ms Koketso Chilume of Sebina said her brother Mr Buzwanani Chilume had a wheel chair but it was no longer functioning well and it had been a challenge for him to use it whenever he wanted to.

She, therefore, said the new one was going to make his life easier together with the lives of those caring for him.

Other beneficiaries were from Chadibe, Marobela, Marapong, Natale, Nshakazhogwe and Sebina villages. ENDS
