Hall funeral tomorrow
30 Jan 2022
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi on Friday paid the late Dr Andrew Hall’s family a visit to console them following his death on January 26.
Dr Hall will be buried tomorrow at Phomolong Cemetery in Gaborone.
Briefing the President on events leading to the renowned dentist and great golfer’s demise, his aunt, Ms Jeanette Kebonang said he contracted COVID-19 in June 2021 and suffered a stroke upon recovery.
Ms Kebonang said his condition deteriorated as his body had been weakened by the effects of COVID-19.
She said further tests revealed he had brain cancer which was already at stage four.
Dr Hall was then admitted to Gaborone Private Hospital where brain surgery was successfully conducted.
He was later transferred to South Africa for further treatment and after nine weeks, Dr Hall seemed to have recovered but his condition worsened upon returning home.
Ultimately, he was taken back to the hospital where he later died, she said.
President Masisi, who said he was close to the deceased as they grew up together, stated that the news of his death was difficult to bear.
Dr Masisi said he and Dr Hall shared great memories to the very end.
He described him as gentle, lovable, kind, warm and a friendly soul who had done a tremendous job in service to the country.
The President said he felt compelled to condole Dr Hall’s family and express his heartfelt condolences on behalf of himself and his family.
Noting that it was always hard to accept death, Dr Masisi however urged Dr Hall’s family to console themselves with the fact that everybody tried their best to keep him alive.
Dr Hall did his deeds and raised his children lovingly, he said. Ends
