JAB announces skills competition programme

Junior Achievement Botswana (JAB) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development is piloting a skills competition during which JAB entrepreneurs will showcase what they have learnt through the organisation’s programmes.

The competition will be held on November 9 at Ditshupo Hall in Gaborone. A press release from the ministry said these entrepreneurs would be divided into two categories: Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and Achievers (Young Entrepreneurs who have gone through the JAB in-school programme and currently running fully fledged businesses).

The entrepreneurs will be judged on presentation of the business plan, company report, stall exhibitions and oral presentations. Some of the requirements are that beneficiaries should be currently running their own business and the company should have a trading license and a tax clearance certificate.

The release stated that JAB is a not for profit organisation which is dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in  the global economy with Entrepreneurship, Work Readiness, and Financial Literacy Education Programmes.

JAB provides through a dedicated Business Advisors network, after school programmes for students which focus on three key content areas; work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. ENDS
